Air condition (for heating and cooling home)
Clean your filters every summer and winter (you can’t believe how efficient your air conditioner will
become)
Set the temperature on 77°F (25°C) during summer time and 66°F (19°c) during winter. Any one degree
increase means 2-5% more electricity use.
Run a thorough review of your home looking for gaps from which the air can run. Start from your
foundation and basement, look at your windows and see if there is a gap when they are closed, check
your attic for insulation. Once you found a gap go to your local DIY store and consult with the expert
on the best and cheapest way to close this gap
Close rooms that you are not using in order to heat/cool smaller spaces that you actually live in
If you are using portable heater, make sure to close the door of the room your are in. there is no
point to heat or cool other places. Simply make sure your closest surrounding is getting the most
efficient energy
If you are moving around the house with short clothes during winter time, it means you are overheating.
Close your blinds during summer (they are very good insulators)
Open the windows during winter time is there is a warm day outside (this also helps to clean the air
from viruses and flu bacteria)
Install ceiling fans. Many of the days this will be enough to cool your home especially at night. You
won’t believe how much it’ll save.
Replace your light bulbs from incandescent bulb to Fluorescent bulbs. They come in white day light but
you can also get them in warm (yellow) light
Replace your regular light bulbs with PL light bulbs. They last longer and don’t consume the amount of
energy as regular bulbs
Check if you can reduce the strength of your light in your room (measured in Watts). Most of the time
small amount of Watt is sufficient.
When you are leaving the room, don’t forget to close the light. This is correct for all types of light
bulbs except if you are using Fluorescent bulbs and you exit the room for short time
Open the window to let daylight to flow into the room. It is much healthier and not to mention cost
zero.

Water heating
Install fast heater
Try to do showers close to one another. It is much cheaper to heat lukewarm water then cold water
Turn the water heater only when necessary.
If you have specific times during the day in which you need hot water, install a timer and set it to
work for short times a day and exactly when you need it
